Low Energy Build Spiddal

This Low Energy Home will consist of the following;

  • 150mm floor insulation on standard raft foundation
  • Exact Wall Build Up (TBA)
  • 225mm Roof Rafter Pumped with Cellulose Insulation 40mm Sheeps Wool Insulation to service cavity
  • Intello Airtight Membrane with an expected air change result of 0.6 air changes per hour at 50pa
  • Triple Glazed Alu-Clad Windows
  • Underfloor Heating upstairs and downstairs
  • Heat Recovery Ventilation
  • All Groundworks

Low Energy Cottage, Loughrea, Co. Galway

This Low Energy Cottage will consist of the following;

  • 150mm floor insulation on standard raft foundation
  • 250mm Pumped Cavity Wall Construction using Ancon Teplo Basalt non conducting wall ties
  • 400mm Cellulose Insulation Pumped in Attic
  • Intello Airtight Membrane with an expected air change result of 0.6 air changes per hour at 50pa
  • Triple Glazed Windows
  • Nilan Exhaust Air to Air Passive Heat Recovery System linked to wood burning stove.
  • PHPP to be completed by Passive Developments
  • All Groundworks

Currently this House is under construction in Barna, Co. Galway

Low Energy Home Under Construction in Barna, Co. Galway

Area 3,100 square foot

This Low Energy Home will consist of the following;

  • Supergrund Insulated Foundation System U-Value 0.10w/sqk 300mm thick insulation
  • 150mm thick Timber Frame Stud Wall pumped with cellulose and wraped in 60mm air filled Styrodur insulation along with 50mm Sheeps Wool Insulation in service cavity to achieve a U Value of 0.17w/sqk. After carrying out a Condensation Risk Analysis Report we found that the frame could be at risk of moisture build-up certain times during the year so the wood fibre was left out of the service cavity in bathrooms.
  • 195mm thick Cellouse Insulation in roof slopes with 60mm air filled Styrodur insulation on the outside of rafters U Value 0.15w/sqk
  • Intello Air-tight membrane Airtight test achieved 0.9 air changes per hour at 50 pascals
  • Heat Recovery Ventilation System
  • Low Energy Timber Windows
  • Air to Water Heat Pump
  • Fermacell Plaster Slab finished with a breathable natural paint.
