Passive Foundation Systems
GreenTec Eco Homes Ltd is now offering a self-builder package to get your Passive House off the ground using Insulated Foundation Systems. We can supply and fit any of the three insulated foundation systems Viking House, Supergrund and Isoquick. Whether you’re an Engineer, Architect, Self Builder or Contractor send us your plans for a Quotation.
GreenTec Eco Homes are fully trained in all three systems and also offer an under floor heating package. Contact Niall on 087-2930793 or email your plans to info@greentec.ie
Viking House Passive Slab
The Viking House Passive Slab is manufactured in Ireland by a company called Airpacks Insulation in Co. Cavan. Expanded Polystyrene is used to wrap the foundation of the building ensuring there is no thermal break between the wall and the foundation. The structural strength of the Passive Slab results from the combination of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS 300), concrete and steel. The Viking House Passive Slab is suitable for use when building a Traditional Block, Insulated Concrete Formwork and Timber Frame methods of construction. The system is very competitively priced with perimeter ring beam elements starting as low as €18 per liner metre and €25 per sqm for floor area.
- Elimiate critical wall – floor Cold Bridge
- Lowest U-values available
- Concrete is reduced by 50%, reducing your carbon footprint
- Can take loads up to 350kn/m
- Suitable for all ground conditions
- Passive salb easily accommodates the radon barrier

ISOQUICK Foundation System
The insulation system made of Peripor surrounds the part of the building touched by the ground and serves as a foundation. The building insulation above ground continues uninterrupted from edge of the insulation system. This results in continuous all-round insulation without energy consuming thermal bridges. At the dame time ISOQUICK protects the construction against moisture and mould growth. ISOQUICK the insulated raft is a modular system that can be precisely adapted to the various planning requirements and individual architectures. A system which impresses down to the last detail:
- Installation safety ensued by pyramid-shaped lug design
- Minimum cut-offs
- Fast laying
- Form-fit
- Construction free from thermal bridges
- Angular tolerance
- 150sqm plus can be installed in half a day onto a prepared site
- Isoquick modules offer 150mm – 300mm of insulation
- Isoquick can accommodate 200 – 300mm raft thickness
- U values from 0.25 to 0.1 W/m2K
Peripor insulation a BASF product is an excellent material satisfies the high standards of insulation, compressive stress, form stability and also provides dimensionally accurate pre-fabrication. The installation itself only takes a few hours. The ISOQUICK system can be used in all types of buildings such as masonry, ICF, log and timber frame constructions and also basements.

SUPERGRUND Foundation System
This system is manufactured by Aerobord Ireland to the specification of the Swedish company Supergrund. The system consists of an insulated ring beam around the perimeter of the building and come in pre-cut forms. Its is then assembled on site like a jig-saw. Under the concrete floor slab there is usually 200 – 300mm of polystyrene insulation to provide excellent u-values. Where there are load bearing internal walls the polystyrene under the wall is upgraded to a structural grade. The floor slab is reduced to generally 100mm and has a power float finish with under-floor heating pipes already installed.
Whether you are building to current building regulations or want to achieve low energy or passive house standard, we have an insulated foundation system for your project. Using only air as the insulating gas the supergrund can deliver U Values as low as 0.1w/sqm, Insulated Raft Foundations are suitable for use with Timber or Steel Frame, Insulated Concrete Form or Block Construction methods.
Advantages of using Supergrund;
- Lower Heating Cost
- Eliminates thermal bridge to ground
- Warmer floors-Better indoor climate
- A Foundation that uses up to 40% less concrete and makes 33% better use of insulation.
- Added value to your property
- A foundation safe against rising damp
- A Radon safe foundation
- Typical U-Value 0.100-0.155 W/m2K
- Ideal for under floor heating
