Fermacell Plaster Slabbing gets underway in Galway

7 Pallets of Fermacell Plaster Board arrived at site in Barna, Co. Galway today and slabbing is underway. Below is some information on the Fermacell Plaster Board and its environmental benefits.

Fermacell, the high performance Dry Lining board with Class 0 fire rating, excellent acoustic qualities and superb resistance to impact and moisture, brings the highest levels of environmental care and sustainability to the construction industry. Fermacell’s unique manufacturing technique produces board of quality, flexibility and strength completely from recycled materials, making it a totally sustainable product that is ideal for walls, ceilings or floors.

FERMACELL has a very simple homogenous composition:
80% recycled gypsum and 20% cellulose fibres derived from recycled papers, mixed with recycled water. In other words, it’s a 100% recycled material. There are no additives or preservatives used whatsoever. This is also a fully recyclable process, which means that all by-products are fed back into the production cycle.

Sustainability matters
FERMACELL’S manufacturing technique is unique. All by-products are fed back into the process with no water wasted, making it a fully recyclable process!
Both FERMACELL and the process have been awarded the coveted Rosenheim Institute of Construction Biology and Ecology Certificate and the Low Emissions Product Eco Certificate. FERMACELL has also been defined as a ‘Healthy Living’ Building Material for allergy-free environments.
FERMACELL’S commitment to sustainability focuses on a ‘whole lifecycle’ approach to environmental management. From production through to the supply chain and final construction, our goal is to ensure the highest levels of health and safety for everyone who come into contact with our operations and products. Energy, water use and waste minimisation are all key priorities, which includes helping our customers re-use their building site waste as effectively as possible

Healthier environments – for living and working
According to research, some 70% to 90% of a normal day is spent indoors. With healthy living becoming ever more important to people, the issue of indoor air quality is vitally important. After all, allergies, asthmatic disorders, respiratory tract and skin diseases, as well as certain forms of cancer, are directly related to the air around us.
At FERMACELL, we take our responsibilities for the health of people seriously, which is why all of our products are absolutely safe from an environmental and health viewpoint. An extensive study carried out by the Fraunhofer Institute for building Physics showed that Xella products including FERMACELL do not constitute a fertile breeding ground for mould growth. This reinforces the fact that FERMACELL has for years been a leader in its class thanks to its test mark from the Institute for Building Biology in Rosenheim.
An opinion survey showed that 90% of people would choose environmentally friendly building materials, as long as they are proven to have no health side effects. FERMACELL delivers on both counts
